Dorris Jeanne Young

Dorris Jeanne Young, age 88, passed away September 29, 2016 in Portland, Texas. She was born November 9, 1927 to parents Paul and Gladys Gebhardt in Victoria, TX.

Dorris started employment with Southwestern Bell Telephone just after high school and remained with SWB for over 40 years. She moved to Portland, TX in 1965 and lived there until her death. She was able to live in her home until her passing, thanks to the loving care of her grandson, Marshall Kirby. She enjoyed her long retirement, reading, making ceramics, crocheting, caring for her pets and loving visits from her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband Frank P Young and her parents. She is also survived by one son Bill Kirby (Diane) of Seguin TX, Two grandsons, Travis Kirby (Melissa) of Cypress TX, and Marshall Kirby of Portland, TX, two great grandchildren Allison and Layne Kirby of Cypress TX. One sister and brother in law Pauline and Bruce Ellis of Edna, TX and nieces and great nieces and nephews. 

 The family of Dorris wants to thank her doctors, Dr Lee Sang and Dr. Laura Soler, Christus Hospice and Coastal Palms in Portland, TX for all their loving care.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 -10 a.m. Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at Limbaugh Funeral Home with the service to follow at 10:00a.m. Interment will be at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at the Memory Gardens in Victoria, Texas.
