Delma Hasette Trevino, beloved daughter, sister, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2026, at the age of 53. Born on February 5, 1973, Delma’s life was a radiant example of love, resilience, and selfless care—a life that touched every heart in her midst and left a legacy that will forever inspire those who were blessed to know her.

Delma’s story began in Mathis, Texas, where she grew up surrounded by the warmth of her family and the nurturing guidance of her parents, the late Rodolfo O. Trevino and Audelia H. Trevino. From her earliest days, Delma brought light to every room and laughter to every gathering. With siblings Elvia Sandoval, Francisco Trevino, Raul Trevino, and Ermelinda T. Sanchez. Delma wove unbreakable bonds of love and loyalty that were the foundation of her remarkable life.

A proud graduate of Mathis High School, Class of 1991, Delma was known for her unwavering positivity and bright outlook even amidst challenges. Shortly after high school, she worked at Mathis Laundromat, where her kindness and helpful spirit earned the admiration of customers and co-workers alike. She found joy in simple acts of service—providing change, offering a smile, and connecting with the people of her community.

Life’s journey led Delma to River Ridge Nursing Center, where she not only resided but also became an inspiring leader, serving as president of the resident council. She advocated for her fellow residents and fostered a sense of unity and inclusion through her wisdom and gentle authority, always ensuring that every voice was heard and valued.

Delma’s zest for life found its greatest expression in her relationships and her love of family. She treasured every connection, no matter the distance or circumstance. Delma embraced Facebook as a way to stay closely tied to family and friends; every comment, message, and photo served as another thread strengthening the fabric of her cherished circle. She eagerly anticipated outings and family cookouts, where laughter mingled with the aroma of grilled food and stories flowed as freely as her affection.

Visits from loved ones were moments Delma held dear—she would talk about them for days, each visit captured in a treasured photograph and remembered with detail and warmth. Holidays were marked by joyful sleepovers; no movie night or spontaneous Walmart trip was ever too small to be celebrated when shared with those she loved. Family BBQs, whether for birthdays or holidays, filled her heart, and in every gathering, she was the soul of the occasion.

Her compassion was perhaps best expressed in the way she bid farewell to visitors. Delma loved to hold hands during these long goodbyes, parting only after reminding her guest, “Text me when you get home.” It was this kind of care—intentional, genuine, and overflowing—that defined Delma’s essence. Her words and signature phrases, “I Love You More” and “Just surprise me,” reflected her lifelong commitment to making others feel special and loved.

Delma could always be counted on for good advice, delivered with honesty, humor, and heartfelt concern—whether the truth was easy or hard to hear. Her positive attitude remained steadfast through every trial and triumph, and her ability to comfort and encourage was a gift to all she encountered.

As the heart and center of her family, Delma’s absence creates an unmeasurable void, but her legacy is woven into the values she instilled, the memories she created, and the unconditional love she gave so freely. She was the foundation and the greatest source of comfort for those who needed her, her warmth enveloping each loved one and friend who crossed her path.

Delma is survived by her loving sisters Elvia Sandoval and Ermelinda T. Sanchez; her loving brothers Francisco Trevino (Antonia) and Raul Trevino and special friend Jasper McCartney, nieces and nephews: Joel, Selina, Emelda, Tomas, Anabel, Eric, Sara and Rodolfo, great nieces and nephews: Itzel, Evan, Elijah, and Adalyn whom she loved dearly. She rejoins in eternal rest her parents, Rodolfo O. Trevino and Audelia H. Trevino.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Avir at River Ridge Nursing Center and Melissa Acosta (RN), for their compassionate care and enduring support. The deep affection and unity of the Rodriguez and Hasette families were a constant strength throughout Delma’s life.

Visitation in Delma’s honor will be held at Winsteads’ Funeral Home, 121 N Duval St., Mathis, TX 78368, on August 6, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm, with a prayer service at 7:00 pm at the same location. Funeral services will take place at 10:00 am on August 7, 2026, at Templo Gethsemani Cladic, 314 S Atascosa St, Mathis, TX 78368. Delma will find her final resting place at Descanso Eterno II Cemetery, 1014 S Aster Ave, Mathis, TX 78368.
