Deborah Louise Furtado

Deborah L. Furtado, 82, passed away January 12, 2017. She was born in New York City on December 10, 1934 to Alberta F. McNair and adopted by her husband Francis James West. She moved to Jamestown RI with her parents where she attended grade school. She continued her education in Newport, RI graduating from Rogers High School in 1952. She then went to Newport School of Business and attended college and the University of Rhode Island. After graduation she had the privilege of working at the Boy Scouts of America office in Newport. Later she worked for RI Legal Services for over 20 years. She belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary and the Oder of the Eastern Star. She is preceded in death by her parents, and her son Alfred James MacDonald. Deborah is survived by three daughters, Deborah E, MacDonald, of Houston, TX, formerly of Bristol, RI, Suzanne G. Meglen (Tom) of Portland, TX, and Meredith A. MacDonald (Darnel) of Jamestown RI, seven granddaughters, four grandsons, and two great-grandsons. Deborah was a member of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church where she served in various positions when she left Jamestown she continued to serve the Lord in the local Episcopal church wherever she lived. The family would like to thank Christus Hospice and Trisun Coastal Palms for your loving care of our mother. A memorial service will be held in Rhode Island at a later date.
