Davis "Dave" Eugene Morris

Davis "Dave" Eugene Morris, 80, closed his eyes for the last time on earth on November 5, 2020. Mr. Morris was born on December 13, 1939, in Kingsville, Texas to Myrtle and Tom Morris Jr.  Although he was an only child, he had many close relatives and friends.

Dave attended schools of Kingsville Independent School District before graduating from Shaw's Barber College in San Antonio, Texas, 1958.  He began his barbering career at Andrew's Barber Shop before becoming one of the founding barbers of King Barber Shop in 1967.  After the death of Mr. James Mosley and Mr. Raphael Brown, Mr. Morris owned and operated King Barber Shop until his unfortunate death.

Mr. Morris was a loving, caring and devoted husband (prior to his wife's passing in 1994), father, grandfather, godfather, uncle and friend.  He was an elder deacon of King Star Baptist Church and an active civic community supporter. Dave knew no stranger and welcomed all in his presence with his infectious and warm-hearted smile.  All who crossed his path and sat in his presence will miss him dearly.  He was preceded in death by his father, Tom Morris Jr. (1994); his mother, Myrtle Morris (2017); his wife, Willie Marie Morris (1994); and godson, D'Angelo Carrington-Lewis (2002).

He is survived by his daughter, Tammy (Bobby) Brackens of Dallas, TX; his son, Marvin (Michaw) Morris of Washington, D.C.; one grandson, Jordan Brackens; two granddaughters, Hayley and Alexia Brackens; one godson, Jamal Melton and a host of relatives and close family friends and confidants.

A public viewing is planned for Saturday, November 14 ^th , 2020, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Kingsville Memorial Funeral Home.

Due to Covid19, a limited attendance funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 15 ^th , 2020, at Kingsville Memorial Funeral Home.  Interment to follow at Chamberlain Cemetery on Monday, November 16 ^th , 2020, at 10am.
