Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of David Vincent Posas, a beloved brother, uncle, and friend, who departed this world on June 15, 2026. He was born on January 19, 1961, in Austin, Texas, and peacefully concluded his courageous battle with illnesses, surrounded by love and grace.

David was the cherished son of Jose and Sara Posas, who preceded him in death, along with his beloved sister, Terry Posas. He leaves behind a family who adored him deeply, including his sister, Liz Isam; brother, Mario Posas; devoted son, Holden Cottrell; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, all of whom held a special place in his heart.

From an early age, David's life was marked by his vibrant spirit and passion for sports. A proud graduate of Gregory-Portland High School in 1979, David made a name for himself as a formidable defensive back for the Wildcats, his athletic prowess leaving an impression on all who watched him play.

After graduating from high school, David briefly worked at Reynolds Metals before finding his true calling on the open road. He built a career as an entertainment tour bus driver and long-haul truck driver, traveling the country and meeting people from all walks of life including some of the biggest names in music and entertainment. Whether transporting performers to their next venue or hauling freight across the nation, David found joy in the journey itself. He cherished the friendships he made, the places he visited, and the countless stories he gathered along the way. With his quick wit, warm heart, and gift for storytelling, he loved sharing those memories with family and friends. For David, the road was more than a career – it was a source of freedom, adventure, and fulfillment that remained close to his heart throughout his life.

David was a man of great kindness and generosity, known for his ability to bring laughter and light into any room he entered. His family and friends will forever remember his infectious smile, his gentle demeanor, and the way he could make anyone feel at ease.

Funeral Services to honor and celebrate David's life will be held on Friday, July 10, 2026, with a Holy Rosary being recited at 9:45 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. Rite of Committal and Interment will immediately follow at Palms Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to come together in a spirit of love and remembrance.

The Posas family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and staff at Christus Spohn Hospital and Harbor Hospice for their compassionate care and dedication during David's final days. Your kindness and support have been a source of comfort and strength.

As we say goodbye to David, we hold onto the memories of his laughter, his love, and his unyielding spirit. Though he may have left this world, his legacy, and the memories we shared will live on in our hearts forever.

Rest in peace, dear David. Your journey here may have ended, but your spirit will continue to guide and inspire us always.

The Posas family asks that donations be made in David's name to Charitable Giving, American Liver Foundation at PO Box 299, West Orange, NJ 07052.
