Darrell Alan Hackfeld “Popo” 63, of Sandia Tx, went to be with our Lord on Christmas Eve after a brave fight against cancer. He was at his home surrounded by his wife, daughters, son-in-law, grandchildren and friend Carol Broerman.
Darrell was born September 13, 1957 to June Thiel-Hackfeld and Hervey Hackfeld in Mathis Tx. He was raised in Orange Grove where he graduated class of 1976. Darrell then continued his education and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Southwest Texas University, San Marcos in 1980. Darrell and Elizabeth Hackfeld married February 9, 1985.
Darrell is survived by his wife Elizabeth Hackfeld, daughters Jessica (Jason) Cox, Rebecca Hackfeld, Veronica Hackfeld, grandchildren Ethan Stubblefield, Caleb Lowell, Caden Lowell, Addilyn Cox, and siblings Nancy Hackfeld and Dean Hackfeld. He was predeceased by parents Hervey and June Hackfeld, brother Donald Hackfeld and daughter Alexandra Stubblefield.
Darrell was the manager for Agua Dulce Grain Company and surrounding area for 40 years. After retirement, he continued his love for hunting, fishing, and football. He became a member of Texas Association of Sports Officials where he officiated Texas High School Football. He also drove the school bus for Orange Grove ISD. Darrell enjoyed being a lecture for St. Francis Catholic Church.
His greatest love and accomplishments in life, was being a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He will always be remembered as our “Popo”.
Visitation will be at 6 pm and Rosary will be recited at 7 pm on Wednesday December 30, 2020 at Dobie Funeral Home. Funeral Mass 10 am at Saint John of the Cross in Orange Grove, Texas followed by interment to Sons of Hermann Cemetery.
