Clifford Duane Read

Clifford Duane Read, 85, passed away Saturday, September 8, 2012. He was born July 21, 1927 in Bangs, Texas. Duane graduated from Texas A&I University Kingsville in 1954 with an electrical engineering degree. Duane was a United States Navy veteran serving during World War II and the Korean Conflict as a Fire Controlman Third Class serving aboard the USS Princeton. Duane was an electrical engineer with CPL for 33 years as a assistant power division engineer in Victoria, Texas then transferred to Uvalde, Texas where he was the power engineer then to Corpus Christi, Texas as the communications engineer. Duane was a faithful and dedicated member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Portland, Texas, serving in the choir and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 6413 and 4th degree knight with the Knights of Columbus Assembly 2781 of Our Lady Mount Carmel Parish .
Duane is survived by his wife of 58 years Carlene Read of Portland, Texas, daughter Cheryl (Ray) Johnson of Corpus Christi, Texas, grandson Branden Johnson of Dallas, Texas, Sister Jeannette (Albert) Hunt of Corpus Christi, Texas and numerous cousins and nieces.
Visitation for Duane will be at 3:00 pm, Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00pm that same evening. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am, Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church with Rev. Msgr. Mark Chamberlin as celebrant. Interment to follow at Seaside Memorial Park in Corpus Christi, Texas.
In lieu of flowers memorial contribution may be made to a charity of one's choice or church fund.
