Cleavon Cooley Jr.

Cleavon Cooley, Jr was born on January 25, 1940 in Newton, Texas. He was “Von”, “Dad”, or “Pappaw” to his friends and family.

He was known for a strong work ethic, kindness to anyone he met and a deep desire to serve his family, friends and others. Throughout his life he touched many people through his willingness to help friends or strangers in need and his strong faith in Jesus Christ.

He loved to spend time with his family, work on projects around the house and go fishing whenever he could. His family will miss him dearly and the fish are a bit safer with his passing.

He is survived by his wife, Alyson Cooley, his sons, Alan Cooley, Carey Cooley, Kevin Cooley and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Jonathan Roy Cooley and his siblings Roy Cooley, Reginald Cooley, Florence Rogers, Yvonne Dubose.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2026 at 2:00 pm at Harbor View Chapel, 3710 Seagull Boulevard, Corpus Christi, Texas 78402. Internment to follow at 3:30 pm at Aransas Memorial Park Cemetery, 1520 Hwy 188, Rockport, TX 78382.
