Claude Gene Greene, a resident of Corpus Christi, Texas, and a cherished member of the community, passed away on August 13, 2025, at the age of 77. Born on May 11, 1948, in Jackson County, North Carolina, Gene lived a life characterized by dedication, laughter, and love.
Gene's professional journey commenced when he joined DuPont de Nemours Inc., where he devoted 28 years of his life until his well-deserved retirement in 1997. His tenure at the company was marked not just by his commitment to excellence but also by the wonderful sense of humor that endeared him to colleagues and friends alike.
A proud member of Lakeview Baptist Church in Mathis, Gene found joy in both his faith and in the community it fostered. He shared moments of happiness through various hobbies, including shooting at target practice, but he had a particular passion for sports. Being an avid sports fan, Gene knew all of the specifics and stats of his favorite teams. He enjoyed all sports, but his two favorite teams were the North Carolina Tar Heels in basketball and the Atlanta Braves in baseball. Above all, Gene was known for his playful pursuit of his beloved wife, Sharon, whom he loved deeply throughout their 26 years together.
Gene is reunited with his parents, Belle Buchanan and Paul Greene; and brother, Bob Greene, who nurtured his kind spirit and sense of humor.
Gene is survived by his beloved wife, Sharon; daughters, Shannon (Chris) Whitmire and Melanie (Jason) Brown; step-daughter, Nichole Rose; seven grandchildren, Allie, Wes, Luke, Reagan, Ryan, Jason, and Mashayla; and sisters, Paula Gaddis and Sue Miller. His family was his pride and joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
As we remember Claude Gene Greene, we celebrate not just his accomplishments and interests, but the warmth and joy he brought into the lives of those around him. His legacy of laughter and love will undoubtedly continue to resonate through the many hearts he touched.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10 AM on Friday, September 5, 2025, at Lakeview Baptist Church, where a meal will be provided afterward for family and friends. Interment with Final Military Honors will begin that same afternoon at 1 PM, at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery.
