Obituary

Charito “Chat” Cea Danao passed away on September 27, 2026. She was 56 years old.

Chat was born in Quezon City, Philippines on January 31, 1970, to parents Miguel Vargas Cea and Truvic Espiritu Cea. She is survived by her husband of 12 years, Norman Danao; mother, Truvic Cea; and children: son, Ralph Vincent C. Adrao (grandkids: Zachary Joaquin V. Adrao and Zevi Jude V. Adrao), daughter Plinky A. Araja (grandkids: Ianna A. Araja, Ian Gabriel A. Araja, Ivan James A. Araja, and Isaiah Sven A. Araja), daughter, Shaira C. Adrao (grandkids: Shekinah Joey A. Gallardo and Savannah Joey A. Gallardo), son, John Exequiel C. Adrao (grandkids: Aria Lexine L. Adrao and Ariana Xequiela L. Adrao), son, Soliver C. Adrao Jr., and son, Kierre C. Adrao.

Chat was one of ten siblings and the fourth oldest. She came from a large family, with siblings: Nestor, Edgar, Helen, Josephine (Duts), Miguel Jr. (Bibeng), Ferdinand, Michael, Ryan, and Justine. Many of her brothers and sisters worked and built their lives in different parts of the world, and years could pass before seeing one another. However, no matter the distance, Chat and her siblings kept in touch and stayed involved in each other’s lives. The miles between them never changed the relationship they shared as a family. Through her siblings, Chat was also an aunt to more than 30 nieces and nephews, as well as a growing generation of grandnieces and grandnephews.

Chat worked overseas to help support her family in the Philippines. While working in Qatar, she met her husband, Norman Danao. Together, they moved to Corpus Christi, Texas, and brought three of her children with them: John, Soliver Jr. (Choy), and Kierre. Chat worked at Cinnamon Shore as a contractor and took great pride in what she did. Her work was one of the ways she showed love for her family.

Chat also had dreams of her own. She attended Del Mar College to pursue a degree in nursing, something she always wanted to do. She pursued that dream while continuing to build a life for herself and her family.

Chat was also someone who knew how to enjoy life. She had a fun spark that was impossible to miss. She loved to laugh, have fun, tell stories, play board games, and spend time with people she loved. Every moment with Chat was full of life and laughter. One of the funniest memories of Chat involved her learning how to drive in her new home of Texas. She always said she knew how to drive in Qatar, but somehow always got lost in Corpus Christi. Her older sister Helen would always have to rescue her whenever she got lost.

Chat brought laughter and good memories everywhere she went. She loved spending time with her family, especially her three dogs, Jack, Jill, and Baby. She traveled around North America, from New York, to Montana, to Los Angeles, to Florida, and almost every state in between. One of her favorite adventures was a road trip to Canada with her family and exploring every national park along the way.

Chat was a giver. She often gave more than she received and never expected anything in return. Taking care of the people she loved came naturally to her. Chat worked hard, loved deeply, and knew how to enjoy her life. She was so proud of her kids and incredibly proud of the life she built for them, both in Texas and in the Philippines.

She will be deeply missed.

Life will not feel the same without Chat. We will miss her stories, her generosity, and the joy she brought into our lives. We will miss the little things the most: the conversations, the text messages, the food she cooked, and simply knowing that she was there. We will miss all the little things that we never realized meant so much until she was gone.

We are so grateful that we had Chat. She left pieces of herself in all of us. Her memory will live on through her husband, children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews, and everyone whose lives she touched. We cannot have one more day with her, but we will have a lifetime of memories to carry with us.

We love you, Chat. You were the best mom, daughter, aunt, wife, sister, and niece. You will always be loved. You will always be remembered. Hinding-hindi namin makakalimutan ang lahat ng ginawa mo at kung gaano mo kami minahal. Until we meet again, in the arms of Jesus.
