Calvin Ross Jones

Calvin R. Jones entered into rest on June 6, 2014. He was born in Tahoka, Texas on October 24, 1924. In 1960 Calvin opened the Portland Flooring and became a member of the Volunteer Fire Department in 1961, where he served many years as Chief before becoming City Fire Marshal.  He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing and camping.  Always the family man, he would bring his children along with him.

He was preceded in death by his daughter La Wanda Wheeler. He is survived his wife Willie Mae; daughters Judy Offer and Janis Stacey; 9 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 5 great great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, June 12, 2014 at the Limbaugh Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 13, 2014 at the First Baptist Church in Portland. Interment will follow at Palms Memorial Gardens.
