Bobbye Mitchell

Bobbye McDonald Mitchell, age 94, of Corpus Christi, TX died on April 15, 2024 after a brief illness. 

Bobbye was born in Beaumont, TX on November 21, 1929 to Willie Hicks McDonald and Dawson Clinton McDonald. She graduated from South Park High School in May of 1946 and entered college the next month.  She received her Bachelor and Master degrees from Sam Houston State University. She taught school in Beaumont and Corpus Christi before retiring in 1990. 

At the time of death, Bobbye was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd and St. Francis Guild.  In her earlier years, she served as a Lector, Lay Eucharistic Minister, a Eucharistic Visitor, and an active member of the Altar Guild in several Episcopal churches. 

Bobbye was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Murray C. Mitchell, and her parents.  She is survived by her son, Bob Mitchell (Pat) of Taft, TX - two grandsons, Tommy Mitchell (Angie) of Manvel, TX, Brett Mitchell (Jamie) of Portland, TX and one granddaughter, Nicki Murray (Toby) of Taft, TX.  Five great grandsons – Murray Mitchell, Brodie Mitchell, Tobias Murray, Hudson Murray and Travis Buck Mitchell. Three great-granddaughters – Bailey Mitchell, Charley Marie Mitchell, and Emma Grace Murray.   

A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at 2:00 at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church.  In lieu of flowers, Bobbye requested donations to Good Shepherd, St. James School, or a charity of your choice.
