February 2, 1930 — November 17, 2019

Betty Jo Haston

Betty Jo Haston passed away on November 17, 2019. Betty was born in Paducah, Texas on February 2, 1930 to Dewey and Lula Moss.  They lived in the farm community of Hackberry in Cottle County Texas.  Her parents and brother Clineth preceded her in death.

Her husband, C.W. was the love of her life for 69 years.  He passed from heart failure January 12, 2014.   Betty and C.W. met in high school and were married on March 3, 1945, and it was a love story forever after.

C.W. and Betty had three daughters, Sherry Hanks (Thomas Hanks) of Austin, TX, Debbie Davis (Randy Davis) of Nashville, TN and Dana Wilson (Bill Wilson) of Portland, TX.  Their family increased to include eight grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and four great, great grandchildren.

Betty was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved her family, friends and pets.  She had a cheerful and optimistic personality.  She always had a smile and a kind word where ever she went.  Hospitality was her gift.  She never missed an opportunity to host or help with her church groups, baby and wedding showers and anything where she could lend a helping hand.  She was a fabulous cook and always willing to share good food with others.

She and C.W. had many adventures along their life’s way which included living in Iran, England, Norway, Australia and Thailand while C.W. was working with ESSO Exploration.  After living in Houston for a while, they moved to Calallen, TX and eventually Portland, TX.

Betty’s faith and outlook on life has left its mark on her children and grandchildren.  Her example of steadfastness and devotion to family will be carried on for generations.

We take solace in knowing Betty and C.W. are now together and off on another great adventure.
