In Loving Memory of Beatrice Canals Gonzalez
March 21, 1949 – September 9, 2025

Beatrice Canals Gonzalez, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, teacher, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. Born on March 21, 1949, to Angel and Julia Canals, Beatrice lived a life rooted in love, service, and unwavering faith.

On August 5, 1972, Beatrice married her college sweetheart, Juan Jose Gonzalez, beginning a lifelong partnership rooted in love, faith, and shared values. Over the next 53 years, they built a beautiful life together, raising their daughters with devotion and joy. Their days were filled with meaningful traditions—attending livestock shows to support their community and celebrate the agricultural heritage they cherished, cheering from the sidelines at countless athletic events, and faithfully attending Sunday Mass, where they found spiritual grounding and connection. Beatrice and Juan Jose also delighted in the simple pleasures of their hometown, often dining at their favorite local restaurants, where they shared meals, memories, and laughter with family and friends. Their enduring love and commitment created a legacy of warmth, resilience, and togetherness.

A proud native of Kingsville, Texas, Beatrice dedicated over 30 years to public education, shaping the minds and hearts of generations of students with compassion and wisdom. Even after retiring from Santa Gertrudis ISD, her passion for teaching never waned. She continued to give back by educating students at St. Gertrude's Catholic School and Coastal Bend Community College, leaving an indelible mark on every classroom she entered.

Beatrice and her husband, Juan Jose, were devout Catholics and lifelong members of St. Gertrude Catholic Church. Their faith was the foundation of their marriage and family life. Beatrice's deep devotion to God guided her every step, and she lived her beliefs through acts of kindness, generosity, and grace. Her quiet strength and spiritual conviction were a source of comfort and inspiration to all who knew her.

Beatrice and Juan Jose traveled, collecting memories and stories that enriched their lives and those around them. Yet, some of her most peaceful moments were spent at home, simply watching the cows graze in the pasture—a quiet reflection of her appreciation for life's simple pleasures.

Her greatest joy came from her four grandchildren—Tre, Jak, Isa and Chloe. Each grandchild held a special place in her heart, and she nurtured a unique and loving bond with each of them. Whether it was deep conversations, shared laughter, or quiet moments of encouragement, Beatrice made every grandchild feel seen, cherished, and deeply loved. They were the light in her eyes and the love of her life.

Beatrice is lovingly remembered by her devoted husband, Juan Jose Gonzalez; her daughters, Priscilla Flores and husband Norberto Flores II, Lieutenant Colonel (Retired), of Georgetown, and Selina Kieschnick of Kingsville; her cherished grandchildren, Norberto (Tre) Flores III, John Anthony Kieschnick, Isabella Beatrice Kieschnick, and Chloe Abigail Flores; and her beloved forever son-in-law, Eric Kieschnick. She also leaves behind her siblings Benito (Gloria) Canals, Gloria Daniels, Yolanda Hernandez, Josefa (Ignacio) Hinojosa, Angie Garcia (Nick Vasquez), Angel Canlas Jr., and brother-in-law Felipe (Janie) Gonzalez of San Antonio, along with numerous nieces and nephews whom she held close to her heart.

Beatrice will be remembered for her unwavering dedication to education, her boundless love for her family, and her gentle, joyful presence in the lives of all who knew her. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her students, her community, and most of all, her family. Her faith was her compass, and her life was a testament to the power of love, devotion, and grace.
