Angelina Mora

It is with heavy hearts that the Mora and Avila families commit Angelina Mora into the embrace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Angelina was the fourth of eleven children born to Aurelio and Eulojia Avila. Born on the 18th of January 1944, she grew up tending the land and caring for her family and community within the town of Gregory, Texas. In August of 1960 she married the love of her life, Anastacio Mora, and with him bore five sons who continue their legacy. A pillar of the community as much as she was within her own family Angelina served as a member of multiple religious organizations affiliated with Immaculate Conception Church. Most notably she served within the Altar and Sacred Heart Societies as well as the Devine Mercy Apostolate.

She is preceded in death by her siblings Jesus, Jose, Matilde, and Gilberto Avila in addition to her late son Joel Mora. Surviving her are her sons Alex, Isaac(Joann), Noemilio, and Michael Mora who themselves have provided their mother with grandchildren and who have themselves born her great grandchildren before her passing. Though there may never have been enough time spent in her company for those that knew and loved her, all can attest that the life she led was one that exemplified the values of the catholic faith and brought joy to others.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at Winsteads’ Funeral Home in Portland, with Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 8, 2022 at the Immaculate Conception Church in Gregory with interment to follow at the Gregory Cemetery.
