Angel G. Serna, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2026, in Corpus Christi, Texas, at the age of 66. Born on September 4, 1959, in San Patricio, Texas, Angel was a man who warmly touched the lives of those around him with his infectious laughter and joyful spirit.
Angel is remembered fondly as a jokester who brought light and kindness to every gathering. He had a deep love for his family, cherishing each moment spent with them, particularly his grandchildren. His hobbies reflected his hands-on personality, as he enjoyed fishing, carpentry, woodworking, and playing musical instruments. Angel also delighted in listening to music and engaging in card games, especially poker.
Angel is reunited with his parents, Amadeo Serna Sr. and Rafaela Garcia Serna, who shaped his values and instilled in him a love for family and community. He leaves his legacy to his beloved wife of 47 years, Aurora Serna; children, Sunshine (Armando) Rivas, Ariana (Jose) Rodriguez, Sara (Eloy) Cavazos, Sonny Angel (Laura) Serna, Jose Angel (Julie) Serna, and Anthony (Trisha) Serna; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Rafaela Serna (Michael Gallegos), Rosa DeLeon, Adelita Serna (Margarito Gutierrez), and Amadeo Serna Jr.; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends who will carry forward his warmth and humor.
Visitation will be held from 2 PM until 9 PM on Monday, March 9, 2026, at Winsteads' Funeral Home, where a Holy Rosary will be recited that same evening at 7 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 9:30 AM on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at Saint Patrick Catholic Church in Mathis, Texas. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Old San Patricio Cemetery.
Those with the honor of being a pallbearer are as follows: Seth Pena, Rico Pena, Lucky Rivas, Dylan Serna, Adrian Rocha, and Jose Rodriguez.
Angel G. Serna will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of his family and friends.
