Alejandro Zambrano

Alejandro Zambrano, 71, of Gregory, Texas, passed away on May 20, 2024.  He was born in Gregory, Texas on December 10, 1952 to his loving parents Juan Jesus Tapia and Guadalupe Cantu Zambrano.  

 Alejandro was a proud Vietnam Veteran, serving in the United States Army in the 1970s.  While stationed in Colorado, he met and married Geraldine Lopez Zambrano.  They returned to Texas and raised their three children, Michael, Alejandro, and David in Gregory, Texas.

 Alejandro graduated from Gregory Portland High School and after serving his country, received a Certificate in Industrial Education in Automotive Mechanics in 1980 from Del Mar College.  He then started a career as a heavy equipment operator at the NAS-CCAD in Corpus Christi, serving over 35 years there until he retired.  

 He had a passion for traveling, camping, and riding his 3 wheeled motorcycle with his wife.  He was a lifelong member of Immaculate Conception Church and enjoyed playing guitar for the church and with his family.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.  

 He is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Olivido and Jose Zambrano.

 He is survived by his three sons Michael Lopez (Irma), Alejandro Zambrano, David Zambrano (Denise), his five grandchildren and five great grandchildren, and his brother Juan Zambrano (Yolanda), and numerous nieces and nephews.

 Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Monday, May 27, 2024 at Winsteads’ Funeral Home in Portland, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at Immaculate Conception Church in Gregory. Interment will follow at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery.
