Alejandra Pena

Alejandra O. Pena, was called to be with her Lord and Savior on June 13, 2025. She was born on March 1, 1948 in Portland, Texas, to Ramon and Maria Ochoa. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Ruben G. Pena, Sr., her parents, and her brothers, Joe and Raymond Ochoa.

Alejandra (Alex) was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She is survived by her son, Ruben Pena, Jr. and her daughters, Monica Hatton and Tori Garcia (Brian). She also leaves behind 8 grandchildren, who she loved dearly, Tyler Hatton, Isaac Garcia, Marie Garcia, Macy Wood (Seth), Gwen Pena, Jacob Pena, Margo Hatton and Luke Pena.; great-granddaughter Hallie Wood; her sisters, Frances Garza, Amelia Estaba (Francisco), Yolanda Pena, Virginia Ramirez (Sammy), Mary Brown (Roy), her sisters-in-law, Amelia Castillo, Alicia Trevino, and Cleo Ochoa, and many nieces and nephews who she also loved dearly.

Alejandra grew up in Portland, Texas. She graduated from Gregory-Portland High School and attended Del Mar College and received her Cosmetology License. She spent many years as a caregiver for a niece and her nephews and other friends’ children. She had a career as a retail associate at Foley’s Department store for many years. She retired as a Human resource administrator from Foley’s.

In her free time, Alex enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren at any event in which they participated. She loved traveling and her favorite trips were to Las Vegas with family and friends, where she would visit about twice a year when she could. Later in life, she thoroughly enjoyed watching any and every game that the Houston Astros played. She was their biggest fan.

Pallbearers will be Brian Garcia (son-in-law), Rami Pena (nephew), Orlando Pena (nephew), Tyler Hatton (grandson), Isaac Garcia (grandson), Seth Wood (grandson-in-law), Jacob Pena (grandson), Luke Pena (grandson) and honorary pall bearer, Adrian Pena (nephew).

Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2025, with the Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. at Winsteads’ Funeral Home in Portland. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Portland. Interment will follow at The Palms Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
