Albert Roy Wren, affectionately known as Bert, passed away on February 6, 2026, in Mathis, Texas, at the age of 58. A lifelong resident of Mathis, Texas, he was born on November 1, 1967, to parents, Marvin Elwood Wren and Maudie Adele Wren. A devoted husband, father, brother, and friend, Bert's presence touched the lives of many, and he will be deeply missed.
Bert was a proud high school graduate of Mathis High School where he was Valedictorian of his class in 1986, which laid the foundation for his future endeavors. He dedicated his professional career to being an Electrical Instrumental Tech at the Meyer Oilfield equipment company. Prior to that, he spent over 20 years at Schlumberger Oilfield Services. His work ethic and commitment to his profession were admired by his colleagues and friends alike.
Bert married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Melinda on November 23, 1991, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mathis, Texas. They later welcomed their daughter Chelsea Laine to the world. Together they shared many beautiful experiences and made countless memories.
Bert was a member of Argenta Church of Christ for many years before attending the New Life Church in Corpus Christi, Texas, in more recent years. His faith was an important part of his life. Bert was known to be a jack of all trades—a handyman who relished the opportunity to help others. He had a natural talent for problem-solving, whether it involved building computers or working with electronics. His love for the outdoors and his dogs brought him countless moments of joy. A reserved individual, Bert possessed a wonderful sense of humor that won the hearts of those around him.
Bert is reunited with his father, Marvin Elwood Wren; mother, Maudie Adele Wren; sister, Nancy Wren; and his brother, Marvin "Marty" Wren Jr. He leaves his legacy to his beloved wife of 35 years, Melinda T. Wren; cherished daughter, Chelsea Laine Wren; sister, Theresa (Howard) Fawcett; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Bert was very much loved by his family, extended family, and friends, and anyone who had the pleasure of meeting him recognized the light he brought into their lives. His legacy will live on through the love he shared and the cherished memories he created.
Visitation will begin at 10 AM on Friday, February 13, 2026, at Winsteads' Funeral Home. A Funeral Celebration will be held that same morning at 11 AM at Winsteads' Funeral Home. Interment will follow services at Cenizo Hill Cemetery.
As we come together to celebrate and honor Bert's life, we remember him for his unwavering love, kindness, and the joy he brought into our lives.
