Betty Lou Salyer

Betty Lou Salyer, age 87 of George West, passed away on July 4, 2017. Graveside services will be held on Saturday July 8, 2017 at Lagarto Cemetery at 10AM. It is only fitting that she passed away on July 4 th as she often referred to as a firecracker. One of her male nurses on her last day said, “I like her she is a little spit fire”. She always had a sparky character and could spit fire or charm a rattlesnake with her witty humor. Betty Lou Salyer was born on June 26, 1930 to Cecil and Lucile Horton in Mathis, Texas. She graduated from Mathis High School. She married her high school sweetheart, Reginald Clifton “RC” Salyer, Jr in 1946. RC and Betty had two sons, Reginald Wayne Salyer and David Stanley Salyer. They lived in Kenedy, Texas where Betty worked for 25 years at the Hinckle Corporation. After retiring, RC and Betty moved to the family ranch in George West in 1994. She was an avid cattle rancher and loved the outdoors. Betty was also an excellent seamstress and loved to quilt. She was also a member of the Lagarto Cemetery Association. She is preceded in death by her husband, RC; her son, David Salyer; her brother, Cecil “Bud” Franklin Horton; brother in law, Jack Sharp and her parents.
