Jerrell James Fromme was born in Goliad County to Adolph I. and Elenita (Holzapfel) Fromme on October 3, 1923 and passed away on November 8, 2016. He went to Evergreen School, near Weesatche, seven grades with one teacher. He gave his mother credit for being a Christian. She played the organ and taught Sunday School. When he was 14 years old his family moved to a farm near Mathis and attended Lutheran Church in Sinton. He graduated from Mathis High School and served in the U. S. Air Force. He graduated from Sam Houston State Teachers College and taught high school and veterans. Jerell worked for Dupont in Victoria for twenty six and a half years and was an active member, Deacon, Elder, Sunday School Superintendent in the First Presbyterian Church Victoria. He was married to Joyce Marburger and had one daughter. They later divorced. He retired from Dupont and moved back to Mathis in 1978. There he met an old acquaintance, Martha Parker Jennings. They were married in the First Baptist Church in 1979. He had his own business in Skidmore for three years and then worked for Diamond Shamrock in Three Rivers for six years. He joined the First Baptist Church and taught Sunday School and became a Deacon. He worked on the building and grounds committee for many years. Jerell was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Mildred Gerding. Survivors include loving wife, Martha Fromme, daughter Cheryl Lynn (Bobby) Coker of Skidmore, Texas, sister Betty Lou (Erling) Brendalen, step-sons Robert (Rosemary) Jennings of Lakeway, Texas and Randy (Carol) Jennings of Katy, Texas, grandchildren Jennifer (Jacob) Linney, Stephanie Coker Hollis and Cody Coker, step grandchildren Scott Jennings and Susan Jennings, great-granddaughter Addison Linney, great grandson Jace Linney and great granddaughter Bryleigh Hollis, step-great grandchildren Grace Jennings, Clayton Jennings, Eathan Farley, Matthew Farley, many nieces, nephews and loving friends. Visitation will begin on Friday Nov. 11 at 5 p.m. at Dobie Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday Nov. 12 at the First Baptist Church in Mathis. Burial will follow in Cenizo Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Baptist Church.
