Abelardo Benitez, age 78, formerly of Mathis, passed away peacefully July 13, 2015, in Mesquite, Texas. He was born in Beeville, Texas, on September 29, 1936 to Jesus and Olivia Perez Benitez. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Humberto and Elizabeth Benitez and their son, Brandon of Emmitsburg, Maryland and his daughter and son-in law, Veronica and Vidal Olivarez of Mesquite, Texas, and their children Elias Olivarez of North Richland Hills, Texas, and Andrea Olivarez-Bennett and her husband Key of College Station, Texas. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law Rose and Wayne Bates; sisters-in-law, Sue Benitez and Beva Villalon and husband Lalo and many nieces, nephews and extended family. Abelardo was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Clorinda Suarez Benitez, brothers Tony and Rosendo Benitez, and sisters, Ninfa Tovar, Elida Garcia, and Belia Morrill. Viewing will be held Monday July 20 at Dobie Funeral Home Chapel from 11am – 9pm. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 21 at Dobie Funeral Home at 10 am followed by interment at Cenizo Hill Cemetary
